summary: yuko is terrible at tagging. from the "took you in shipping meme" from february. prompt 8: ʟᴇᴀʀɴɪɴɢ — If you've been injured badly enough or can't remember all too well, you might have to relearn a good deal. Luckily, you have a helping hand.
start with Kid
[ For a Kid heist it was nothing unusual: a challenge by the old man, lots of fans, television crews, and publicity. Jirokichi Suzuki had plenty of money and pride to burn on constructing elaborate, 'thief-proof' traps designed to snare the phantom thief, and Kid, being the gentleman he was, considered it the height of rudeness not to accept such an earnest challenge. He sent his reply notice by mail and began preparations to crack his adversary's latest strategy.
An hour before midnight, the stage awaited him. In spite of the cameras, lights, and eyes upon him, Kaitou Kid made his usual, sudden appearance in a cloud of pinkish smoke. After appeasing the crowd with a few words, the chase began. This time the theft itself was relatively easy; escaping with the jewel, however, was much harder. Inspector Nakamori's blistering curses chased him through the maze of invisible lasers Jirokichi had set up in the museum corridors, returned with Kid's carefree, triumphant laughter. Hakuba, he figured, was probably lying in wait elsewhere having anticipated the exits Kid might use. As for the boy detective, Kid hadn't glimpsed him yet but was on the lookout for soccer balls flying out of the darkness.
Bursting out on to a balcony (not the rooftop; Nakamori and Hakuba would definitely have watchers on the rooftop), Kid hopped lightly on to the stone rail and bowed to his fans, kept back by the museum's outer perimeter. A spotlight was hurriedly shone on him and he carefully did not let it show that it partially blinded him. Kid's voice carried out over the grounds thanks to speakers planted earlier by Jii, and the tiny microphone on his lapel. ]
As per my notice, I have taken possession of the jewel. [ and up went the cheers from his fans ]
[ Grinning, he tipped his hat and prepared to exit. He could hear Hakuba up on the roof calling his name but paid it no mind at first. It took a few seconds for it to register as a cry of alarm rather than a detective simply yelling at his fleeing target (which Hakuba had never done before, actually). ]
"Behind you, Kid!"
[ Kid spun on his heel as he dropped a smoke capsule from one sleeve. He saw a man in black with a handlebar moustache - Snake, the emotional part of him hissed, almost tossing him out of the confident façade that was Kid - and then he was enveloped in thick smoke. A bare second later there was a muffled gunshot and a bullet struck him in the chest, knocking him off the balcony.
Somehow he managed to remember to wrench out the black cloak. Somehow he managed to complete his 'disappearing' act despite shooting pains from the bullet's impact (thank all the gods he'd been wearing the bullet-proof vest tonight). He expected the landing to hurt and it did. His body hit the ground painfully after falling two stories and he was unable to prevent his head from cracking against the concrete.
Have to get away, have to disappear. Disoriented and badly winded, he scrambled unsteadily to his feet and stumbled from shadow to shadow, ducking around the side of the museum out of sight of the searchlights. He somehow let himself out via an unlocked side gate without falling and lost himself in the crowded streets. The hat got flattened and stowed away with his monocle and cape, but Kaito's fingers couldn't seem to manage the buttons of his tux even after he found a quiet alley to change in. Still wrapped in his cloak, he slumped against a wall as a bout of dizziness hit him and slid to the ground. The last woozy thought in his head was that he still wasn't out of the police search range before he slipped sideways and fell to the ground unconscious. ]

... haibara it seems kaitou kid can entertain you more, go poison him!
"Them", that meant it was more than the work of one. Dangerous enough that Kid believed Conan would get into huge trouble if he pursued them (and Kid knew how hard it was to get rid of Conan. The God of Death loved him, but not enough to keep Conan by its side.) ]
Don't be ridiculous. I'm not going to lose anything on your behalf. Who do you think I am? [ He isn't promising to not pursue the criminals, but that was pretty much impossible to do in the first place, so give up Kid. ]
but what if she asks him to steal expensive purses for her? 8|
[ Kid, in a rare show of temper, has half-risen to glare at the small detective. The anger doesn't last long, as the thief almost straightaway winces and a hand goes to his chest. He falls back on to the bed, concentrating on breathing in a way that doesn't hurt. ]
You scare me more than Hakuba, [ he mutters. ] Damn it, Kudo.
